I am privileged to supervise a staff of four excellent laboratory technicians whose duties include 1) antibody detection procedures utilizing the enzyme linked immunosorbent assays (ELISA), 2) antigen capture protocols, and 3) data management and correspondence with the customers. I oversee the daily operation of the
lab as well focus heavily on customer relations. My duties include budget preparations, equipment procurements, and the administration of quality control
requirements. This laboratory has recently added liquid handling robotics to help relieve some of the hand fatigue associated with continuous, manual
pipetting. My greatest concentration has been towards the improvement in turn-a-round time of submission involved with the Low-Path NPIP-Commercial Broiler
Testing program. Yearly, this voluntary program has added over 250,000 samples serum samples to our workload. I am very proud of this lab’s accomplishments
over the last few years and feel we are a tremendously important player in assuring the “AI Clean” status for the state of Georgia.
